The Story of the Nativity

The Children from the four Parishes presented the story of the Nativity in word and song on Sunday 16th December, in Slavin Parish Church. In the Drama, Mary was Sarah Johnston and Joseph was Ryan Graham. The Kings were Oisin Gregg, Aaron Gregg, and Levi Love. The shepherds were Cameron Duffy, Blake Duffy and Glen Brock; and the angels were Carly Graham, Clare Thompson, and Emma Kettyles.

The Christmas Story was told by various narrators; Kathy Ovens who did the ‘Welcome’ and set the scene, Aoife Gregg, Neil Graham, Laura Thompson, Avril Thompson, Jamie Kettyles, Abi Brick and Lee Walker who read the final blessing. Prayers were said by Glen, Emma, Carly, Abi, Cameron, Kathy, Levi, Aoife, Lee, Skye Love, and Ethan Johnston.

Aoife sang the first verse of the Christmas Song, ‘Great Day in Bethlehem’ and Kathy read a poem called ‘Take Away for Christmas’. This made us think of the true meaning of Christmas.

The congregation joined in the singing of the well known traditional carols and also in the singing of some new ones. The organist was Ethne Earls.

Rev Anita Kerr thanked the children for all their hard work over the past weeks and for their wonderful Presentation of the Nativity and excellent reading. . She also thanked the Teachers, Joy Graham and Lorraine Kettyles from Garrison, and Florence Earls, Doreen Earls and Abigail Ovens from Slavin. The children were encouraged to attend either Christmas Eve in Belleek or Christmas morning in Garrison, for Family services of Holy Communion. Gifts will be presented to those present.
